Milestone, 2021

The underwater glider is named in Parliament

A member of Parliament cited a prototype built on the academy's workshop floor in a speech in the Parliament of Sri Lanka.

When: 17 January 2021
Where: Colombo, Sri Lanka
Format: Parliamentary mention

Hon. Shanakiyan Rajaputhiran Rasamanickam referred to the open-source underwater glider, built by Shanjeevan Amalanathan on the academy’s workshop floor, in a parliamentary speech in January 2021.

A legislator naming a prototype recognises the prototype. It is not evidence that anyone depends on the device. At the time, the maker’s own stated aim was still to get it ready for production, able to take several kinds of measurement at once.
