Shanjeevan Amalanathan, a community innovator at the academy, co-founder of the ocean venture OceanBiome and the maker of the underwater glider, became the first Asian accepted onto the Glider School programme at the Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands, selected from a large international field.
It took three years. He came to DreamSpace Academy in Batticaloa, built an underwater glider, saw it named in Parliament, co-founded an ocean venture, and gained a place on a specialist European ocean-technology programme.
This is one person’s path, not a rate.
