Programme, 2021

ExoLab-9, the experiment runs again

The same space experiment ran again, launched on SpaceX's twenty-third cargo mission.

In late August 2021 a Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon 2 capsule launched from the Kennedy Space Center on SpaceX’s twenty-third cargo mission to the International Space Station. It carried the equipment for ExoLab-9.

ExoLab-9 repeated ExoLab-8. It asked the same question with the same species: how the stress of spaceflight affects the partnership between red clover and the Rhizobia bacteria that turn nitrogen from the air into food for the plant.
