Climathon Jaffna, runner-up

Trash for Trade, the plastics venture, placed second at a 24-hour climate hackathon.

Trash for Trade won the runner-up award at Climathon Jaffna 2020, a 24-hour climate hackathon.

Jayanthan Amalanathan led Trash for Trade from the academy’s workshop floor to tackle plastic waste. The academy’s work on turning waste into new materials starts here. It continues through recycled 3D-printing filament, the plastics machine, a material grown from fungus (mycelium biocomposite) and a bioplastic made from palmyrah.

Trash for Trade placed again the following month at HackX 2020.
